6 Farmers Markets in Central Vermont To Visit In Summer 2019

Farmers markets are an essential avenue for increasing access to local foods. The state of Vermont ranks first in the nation on the 2019 Locavore Index put out by the Strolling of the Heifers, a nonprofit organization based in Brattleboro whose mission is to connect people with healthy local food by supporting development of local food systems. The central Vermont region boasts several of Vermont’s more than 50 farmers markets. 


Capital City Farmers Market

The farmers market of Vermont’s capital city, with over 50 vendors and located right downtown, has been going on since 1977 and has live music every week.

Stowe Farmers Market

On the green between the Blue Donkey and the Red Barn Shops, the Stowe Farmers Market happens rain or sine and offers weekly live music.

Barre Farmers Market
