On a sizzling summer day in Central Vermont, not much tops
the sizzle of burgers on a grill — along with just the right hops. Here, Cornerstone Burger Co. in Northfield shares the ideal burger and beer pairings from
their kitchen.
The Special James
Beard Burger blends 75 percent Angus beef with 25 percent ground button
mushrooms, and comes with caramelized onions, applewood smoked bacon, Danish
blue cheese and a balsamic bourbon fig compote.

Seven Days newspaper has named the Buffalo Blue Burger the best in Vermont, thanks to its pile of blue
cheese crumbles, house made buffalo sauce and pickled jalapeños.
Pair it with a Lost Nation Mosaic.
The Hangover,
meanwhile, cures late-night antics with plenty of beef loaded with bacon,
caramelized onions, bourbon sauce, Swiss cheese and a sunny-side up egg.
Add some hair of the dog by drinking a Kentucky Bourbon Ale.
