There was a time in Vermont where “whatever ails ya” had a remedy and many of those remedies where made down the street, in the county or in the state.  The Vermont Historical Society has a wonderful collection of patent medicine and cure posters that show just how local and interesting cures for common health problems were handled. You can almost hear the barker setting up his stand in the main square and pulling out his bottle of remedy for folks to buy.
