After a long winter, Vermonters are eager for any sign of spring. They also look forward to skiing without all the usual winter weight clothing. The annual pond skimming takes this to a different level, making it a competition. Watch in the video below as costumed contestants attempt to cross a 120-foot pond on skis in this annual Rite of Spring. Every year different costumes and themes arise.
